TOPIC: JESUS, THE LIVING WATER
MEMORISE
And in that day it shall be that living waters shall flow from Jerusalem, half of them toward the Eastern sea and half of them to western sea; in both summer winters it shall occur (Zechariah 14:8).
READ: John 4:1-14
[1]. Therefore, when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John
[2]. (though Jesus Himself did not baptize, but His disciples),
[3]. He left Judea and departed again to Galilee.
[4]. But He needed to go through Samaria.
[5]. So He came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
[6]. Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
[7]. A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.”
[8]. For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.
[9]. Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.
[10]. Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
[11]. The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water?
[12]. Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?”
[13]. Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again,
[14]. but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
EXPOSITION
Jacob's well is about 135 feet, still springing clean and chilled water till today. Wow! Imagine the number of people it had nourished. Can we measure the amount of water it had produced? So, if this Samaritan woman bragged about it, and wasn't willing to give Jesus water from it, it is understandable; it had become their treasure. However, as water producing as this well can be, drawing from it is painstaking Why? *...the well is deep*(v. 11). Imagine the resources put into digging to that depth of 135 feet. So is the energy needed to draw from it. As accessible as it was to the people, they would still have to journey down to fetch from it, and it was meant for some people; not all. As satisfying as its water was, nobody can get enough from it, you will still have to come back to fetch again. As neat and cooling the water is, was, it did not satisfy man's thirst permanently. And as useful as it was, it was static; not movable. Most significant is what Jesus offered the woman at the well--the Living Water that surpasses all barriers (v. 10; cf. Isa. 55:1). Jesus is the Living Water
When you buy a car, you still want to build a house, have your own company, travel abroad, etc. These come from the wells of our labours and efforts, but do they satisfy us? Without Jesus, nothing satisfies. Having Jesus, deposits in you the Well of Life springing every good and perfect thing (Jas. 1: 17; 2 Pet. 1:3). You can't be satisfied without Him. Come to Him now, and experience what He means by saying: *you will never thirst* (Jn. 4:11).

PRAYER POINTS
1. Jesus, come into my life, now, and make me a carrier of Your Living Water.
