TOPIC: EVERY EMPTY SPACE MUST BE FILLED

MEMORISE

      Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me (Revelation 3:20).

READ: Matthew 12:43-45

[43]. “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none.

[44]. Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order.

[45]. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.”

EXPOSITION

       Man is born a sinner, i.e. sinner by nature (Psa. 51:5; Rom 3:23). He lives with sin until he comes in contact with the Gospel and positively responds to it. At salvation, our old nature is purged by the power of the Holy Spirit and the covenant blood (Zech. 9:11), thus rendering the heart free and empty of past deposit of sinfulness. This is where work begins, which many believers are not privy to. They rejoice being saved, only to suddenly discover they are returning to their vomit. Why? They haven't filled up the vacuum created by the elimination of the evil in them (cf. Lk. 11: 24,25). Beware! You must fill up that vacuum with the Spirit of God, the power and Spirit behind purging and renewal (Jn. 6:63). No wonder, Jesus breathed on His disciples and asked them to remain in Jerusalem for the manifestation of the Holy Spirit before launching out.

       Apart from being filled with the Spirit of truth, power and fear of God, you need to enmesh yourself in the Word of God on daily basis, for God's Word is Spirit and life. Jesus is the Word (In. 1 1-2). Don't forsake the gathering of God's people (Heb. 10:25). Above all, look unto Jesus and the things above (Col. 3:1ff). This will help you overcome sin and worldliness (Heb. 12:2). Believers must utilise every available opportunity in Christ to grow and stand to the end (Matt. 24:13). May the Lord help you

SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:

CAC GHB 381

1. Lord, in Thy presence we are met,

 A full salvation to proclaim;

 To testify of grace received,

 Or offered now in Jesus' Name;

 Dear Lord, to Thee our spirits cry,

 Our every longing satisfy.

2. We ask Thee, Lord-for Thou art here,

 Make this a Pentecostal hour,

 When hung' ring souls from Thee receive

 Pardon, or purity, or pow'r,

 Unstop deaf ears, let blind eyes see.

 Bring souls into Thy liberty.

3. Thou knowest sin-sick souls are here

 Sick with depravity within,

 Restless, discouraged, wearied ones.

 And Thou art here to cleanse from sin;

 Oh! Speak the word " I will, be whole"

 And save and sanctify each soul.

4. Grant to Thy servants boldness now,

 That faithfully they speak Thy word,

 By stretching forth Thy hand to heal,

 Let signs and wonders from the Lord,

 Here in our midst to-day be done,

 So, Father, glorify Thy son.

5. We wait-according to Thy word,

 Lord, let it to Thy servants be;

 May nothing-self, pride, prejudice,

 Or unbelief-still hinder Thee;

 Bless'd Spirit, have unhindered way

 In yield hearts and lives to-day.

Amen
