TOPIC: USE YOUR TIME WISELY

MEMORISE

I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work (John 9:4).

READ:

Haggai 1:3-8

[3]. Then the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying,

[4]. “Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?”

[5]. Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways!

[6]. “You have sown much, and bring in little;

You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.”

[7]. Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Consider your ways!

[8]. Go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the temple, that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified,” says the Lord.

EXPOSITION

It is not out of place to talk about using our precious time to serve God and people on this day, which is World Humanitarian Day. Time is an essential part of human life because, life revolves around it. We know from Genesis, how time came into existence. Events happen in time. We see proper time management exemplarily divinely demonstrated in the creation of the heavens and the earth. Only God controls time

As the captives in Babylon returned to Judah, they were busy building and living in panelled (luxurious) houses while the house of God was in ruins. They had abandoned the work of the house of God for which YAHWEH had effected their return from exile. Hope you haven't forgotten/abandoned the work divinely committed to you, the reason God expended so much on your salvation (Eph. 2:10)? We are saved to serve! Everyone likes to have a good life, and some, flamboyant lifestyle, but shouldn't be at the expense of God's people, plan and projects. The Lord told Haggal to warn the people about their bad attitude towards His house. God isn't happy with those abandoning His work

Jesus says, *My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work* (Jn. 4: 34) He has finished His work and the harvest is ripe and plentiful (Matt. 9:37-38). He calls you as one of the needed labourers. Will you decline? Please, don't; the aftermath is unpalatable. He has given us the task of preaching the gospel (Matt. 28-16-20 Mk. 16:15). Are you doing it, even in your job, business, position, etc.? His reward comes soonest (Rev. 22:12).

    It is by Thy command.

    Carrying our souls away

O fill Thy servants with wisdom

That they may live for Thee

4. One thing that we should seek
