TOPIC: FAITHFULNESS AND BLESSEDNESS

MEMORISE

     A faithful man will abound with blessings, but he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished (Proverbs 28:20).

READ:

Proverbs 28:19-22

[19]. He who tills his land will have plenty of bread, But he who follows frivolity will have poverty enough!

[20]. A faithful man will abound with blessings, But he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished.

[21]. To show partiality is not good, Because for a piece of bread a man will transgress.

[22]. A man with an evil eye hastens after riches, And does not consider that poverty will come upon him.

EXPOSITION

        We live in a time when the writing in Proverbs 10:22 *"the blessing of the Lord God makes one rich and He adds no sorrow with it"* does not hold water with so many people. Most especially, some of our young people who have decided to make wealth at all cost in their tender ages. They want to live in the biggest mansions, use the best cars and see the best, the world can offer, even at the detriment of their souls. Whereas, the Bible asks, *"For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and losses his own soul?* (Mk 8:36). No wonder in the obituary, the number of younger people is more than the aged today. Whenever we push the Word of God aside to pursue our own ways, we are definitely heading for the perdition.

       The truth is, there is correlation between when one is faithful and the blessing that attests it: *A faithful man will abound with blessings, But he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished (Pro. 28:20).* Faithfulness is a key to blessedness. However, simply because of impatience and lack of the fear of God, so many people are not ready to follow that path to gain the blessing of God. Rather, they are opting for that, which is not of God and adds sorrow, and even dared the consequences. As a child of God (1 Pet. 2-9), this ought not to describe you. Begin to follow the path of faithfulness, which is required of you as a steward of God's grace (1 Cor. 4:1-2), to get to your blessed zone in life. Abraham continued to exhibit faithfulness, loyalty and allegiance to God, before he eventually claimed the blessing of God. At a point, he resolved not to take ungodly offers from anyone to be able to receive the blessing of God (Gen. 14). You cannot be less. May God help you.

CAC GHB 775

1. O weary heart, there is a home,

 Beyond the reach of toil and care,

 A home where changes never come:

 Who would not fain be resting there?

Chorus:

 Oh wait, meekly wait, and murmur not!

 Oh wait, meekly wait, and murmur not,

 Oh wait, oh wait, oh wait, and murmur not!

2. Yet when bowed down beneath the load

 By heaven allowed, thine earthly lot;

 Look up! Thou' it reach that blest abode

 Wait, meekly wait, and murmur not!

3. If in thy path some thorns are found,

 Oh, think who bore them on His brow,'

 If grief thy sorrow heart has found,

 It reached a holier than thou.

 One sigh unheard, one pray'r forgot;

 The day of rest will dawn for thee

 Wait, meekly wait, and murmur not!
