TOPIC: THE DANGER OF UNPRODUCTIVITY

BIBLE READING:

MATHEW 25:14-28

KEY VERSE:

"So take the talent from him and give it to him who has ten talents." Mathew 25:28  

MEDITATION:

The parable of the talents reminds us who have been privileged to be stewards of the manifold grace of God the danger of lack diligence, unproductivity and laziness. God has zero-tolerance for lack of productivity. He has invested a lot in our lives and so He expects fruits and returns that will bring honour to His great name.  

In today’s bible text, we read that the servant who refused to put to work the one talent entrusted to him lost it to the one with five but was diligent. He was thrown into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. What are the reasons for the lack of productivity and how can we avoid it?   

The servant who received one talent had an unwholesome thought of God. He said, "Lord, I knew you to be a hard man." He thought God's commandments and expectations were grievous (1 John 5:3), so, he didn't serve the Lord with joy. Whosoever has a heart like that of this man will be unfruitful. He placed no value on that which the Lord had committed into his hands, so he hid it. Whatever God has graciously committed into your hands is valuable. It is capable of generating increase to the Kingdom of God. The talent entrusted to you may be just one, but never despise it, else, you break the trust of Him who entrusted you with His treasure.    

When called to give account of your stewardship, what sort of account will you give?  

PRAYER:

Father Lord, help me to serve with diligence and never despise the treasure entrusted unto me.
