TOPIC: AND THE WATERS WERE A WALL

BIBLE READING:

EXODUS 14:21-30

11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. 12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. 14 Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction. 15 Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. 16 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity. 17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. 18 But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. 19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

KEY VERSE:

“And the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.” Exodus 14:22

MEDITATION:

In our journey through life, we are sometimes faced with challenges from different sides socio-economic, health, family, and even spiritual, but we are comforted with the assurances of His word “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you” (Isaiah 43:2).

As Christians, the desire for God’s presence in every of our daily assignments is primary and non-negotiable. It is what determines our success, victory, breakthrough and living a life of an overcomer. Moses realized this truth when he insisted on the presence of God as he led the Israelites through the wilderness. God covenanted with Moses “And He said, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest” (Exodus 33:14).

When God goes with us through the journey of our lives, all the sea of problems and challenges give way and even become our ‘wall of defense’ around us. Then, we can boldly say like the psalmist “But I will sing of Your power; For You have been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble” (Psalms 59:16).

However, we must recognize that the same walls of water that paved way for the Israelites were the same walls that annihilated the host of the Egyptian army in the scripture reading of today. As the wall protects, it is also capable of crushing and destroying the fiery projectiles of the enemies that are against our souls.

Are you accompanied by God in the journey of your life?

PRAYER:

Oh Lord, be my refuge and my guide.
