TOPIC: GOD'S FORMULA FOR FATNESS

BIBLE READING:

PROVERBS 11:24-26

24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. 25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. 26 He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.  

KEY VERSE:

“The liberal soul shall be made fat; and he that waters shall be watered also himself.”  Proverbs 11:25  

MEDITATION:

What you make happen for others, God will make happen for you. Natural laws abound in every aspect of life. There is the law of gravity, there is also the law of seedtime and harvest. All creatures are bound to obey the systems of laws instituted by the creator of the universe because the laws enforce the manifestation of the occurrences of life.    

We see in today’s bible reading the law that governs the forces of poverty and prosperity. They seem contrasting, but they are time-tested principles- One man gives freely yet gains even more, another withholds unduly but comes to poverty. Those who withhold unduly end up in poverty. Why? Reason is that there is a curse on anyone who withholds good, especially when it is in the power of their hands to do the good. Proverbs 3:27 warns us, "do not withhold good unduly from those whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do so" Withholding good unduly from those to whom is is due attracts the curse of the people. The curse of people is largely the curse of poverty.  

Just like the force of gravity, the force of prosperity responds to the law of generosity, while the force of poverty responds to the law of stinginess and holding back.     

Do you desire to be made full, fat and flourishing? When have you held back when you could give freely and you regretted it or missed a favour of blessing? What lesson did you learn?  

PRAYER:

Oh Lord, please deliver me from the spirit of tight-fistedness.
