Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria Grace for Living Devotional Wednesday August 9, 2023 TOPIC: THE EBED-MELECH GENERATION

TOPIC: THE EBED-MELECH GENERATION

BIBLE READING:

JEREMIAH 38:1-13

KEY VERSE:

"These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generation, and Noah walked with God." Genesis 6:9

MEDITATION:

Ebed-Melech was an Ethiopian eunuch who lived and worked in the palace of Zedekiah the King of Judah. He was a stranger who had come to know about the true God.

When the King and the princes refused to accept and follow God's counsel that was meant for their welfare and safety and moved to silence God's mouthpiece permanently, he stood up for the truth. Ebed-Melech was not afraid to stand up against the wickedness of that generation. He dared to speak to the king and he secured the release of prophet Jeremiah.

It’s no longer news that we live in a wicked and extremely corrupt generation. A generation in which the abnormal has become the norm. A generation that despises and scoffs at divine and holy things. A generation that curses its father and does not bless its mother; A generation that is pure in its own eyes, yet is not washed from its filthiness (Proverbs 30:11, 12). Like Ebed-Melech and Noah, we must stand up to make a change and a difference against all odds. We must use every privilege and influence we have under God to change the narrative of impunity and indifference to the things of God right inside the family, church, community and our nation.

What can you do differently wherever God has placed you to challenge every form of ungodliness and evil?

PRAYER:

Father Lord, help me to stand up and stand out for you in this evil and corrupt generation.
