PEACEFULLY RESPOND TO HARSH TREATMENT
PHILEM. 1:15-19
Christians in Paul's day had no political power to change enslavement which was very common in the Roman empire. Notwithstanding, they reformed the social structure through the preaching of the gospel. This enhanced a new form of life as to how people should relate with one another. Christocentric lifestyle prevents people from revenging or protesting in a worldly manner when treated harshly. We must through the grace of God respond peacefully. Paul urged Philemon not to respond to Onesimus' wrongdoing by insisting on Roman legal structure because a new frame of brotherhood in Christ should transform all earthly values and relationships. Philemon's acceding to Paul's request is commendable. Please emulate this.
POINT OF EMPHASIS: Let your response in all situations centre on Christian principles.
PRAYER POINT: Help me Holy Spirit to react to all issues only the way Christ will do.
