UNDEFEATED UNGODLY ATTITUDES
Read: 2 Kings 12:1-3
[1]In the seventh year of Jehu, Jehoash became king, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Zibiah of Beersheba.
[2]Jehoash did what was right in the sight of the Lord all the days in which Jehoiada the priest instructed him.
[3]But the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.

EXPOSITION
According to the Chronicles of the kings of Israel and Judah, so many of them started well but ended as failures. Their ungodly acts became undefeated because they didn't destroy those godless, idolatrous high places, just like King Jehoash did in our today's text. Yes, Jehoash was adjudged nice and righteous in YAHWEH's sight (v. 2), but he tolerated the idolatrous practices that went on, on those high places (compromise); so bad that the people who were expected to be God's were sacrificing and burning incense there. What a desecration! What an apostasy! They relapsed to living and practising ungodly attitudes. Idolatry became their hallmark. The question is, are we better, today? Aren't we living lives that do not glorify God and edify others, despite claiming to be God's people? Our own high places can be fornication/adultery, backbiting, stealing, falsehood, blackmailing, embezzlement, abuse of office, etc. They are so because, they tend to displace God's holiness in our lives, and that itself, is idolatry.
Today's dose of the Living Water admonishes us to turn away from our undefeated ungodly attitudes, those things we have refused to let go despite God's repeated warning. Truly repent and forsake them, so that God would be happy with you and make your ways prosperous. May God help us to live right with Him, never compromising our most holy and precious relationships with Him, in Jesus'name. Amen.
