JESUS, OUR PEACE

RBT: Jeremiah 9-11

Memory Verse: “For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility.” Ephesians 2:14, NIV

Bible Text: Ephesians 2:14-18

2:14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 

2:15 by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, 

2:16 and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. 

2:17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 

2:18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.

There is no better way of experiencing peace than when Christ is at home in the heart as an unknown poet puts it down: 

When Christ is at home in our heart,

Self-seeking and suchlike depart;

He is the solution for any instruction,

If doubt or depression should start.

In dire situations we meet,

In blizzards or sweltering heat;

The Saviour is near us to strengthen us,

For Satan is under His feet. – Anonymous

It is evident from today's passage that Jesus' work has broken down the barriers between God and mankind. The peace in Christ cannot be found anywhere else. This is because only in the grace and mercy of Christ by faith alone lies the forgiveness of sins. He is our peace! 

Jesus is our “Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6, 7). He has brought peace to all who walk in His salvation. The atonement of the LORD was one hundred percent effective and there is nothing more to be done. Jesus has made peace between the Jew and Gentile through His work. You are in the place of peace through His work, and so give thanks to Him, and praise His holiness. 

Jesus brought peace between man and God, and peace among all cultures and social distinctions of mankind.

Insight: The LORD came at His first advent and preached peace to mankind.

Prayer: LORD Jesus, make me an instrument of peace on earth.
