BE TRANSFORMED

RBT: Jeremiah 40-43

Memory Verse: “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:1, NIV

Bible Text: Romans 12:1-3

12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

12:3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.

Once, someone was talking to a great professor about a man he knew. He said to the professor, “The man says he was one of your students.” The professor said, “He may have attended my lectures, but he was not one of my students.” It is possible to be a follower of Jesus but not His disciple.” How do you mean, sir?” The professor explained, “There is a difference between attending lectures and being a student.”

_You see, in the church, there are many distant followers of Jesus but few disciples. You accomplish transformation by studying the Word of God and applying it to your life._

Likewise, in the text for today's devotion, Paul concludes with a list of practical duties based on the doctrines he had discussed. To Paul, in the Christian life, doctrine and duty always go together.

Transformation is powerful and far-reaching word; it speaks of a total change in the character and behaviours of the person involved.

You are either a conformed or transformed person. Which camp do you belong to? Be transformed.

Insight: The goal of discipleship is not information but transformation.

Prayer: Father, transform my life by the power of the resurrection.
