COME AND SEE!

RBT: Jeremiah 44-46

Memory Verse: “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” John 4:29, NIV

Bible Text: John 4:27-30

4:27 Just then his disciples returned and were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?”

4:28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people,

4:29 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?”

4:30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him.

An ex-cultist wrote that if the members go door-to-door and try to get people to come to their church, they might need to visit 1,000 houses to get one person. But if they make friends with their neighbours, they have a 50 per cent success rate. Therefore, making friends with non-Christian neighbours is more fruitful than doing door-to-door evangelism.

When the disciples came back and saw Jesus talking to a woman, they were surprised, because a Rabbi restricts his communication with women and this woman was even a Samaritan. The woman left the water pot and went into the city and said to the men, “Come and see a man who has told me everything about me. Could this be the Christ?” And they came to Jesus, for the woman's enthusiasm attracted them. She had accepted the LORD. She was no longer worried about physical water but was concerned about spiritual life.

In evangelism, there is always a point where you can meet with the unbeliever. You have to be sensitive to what they are saying and seek out the common point on which to start.

Insight: Evangelism is a relationship not an event.

Prayer: LORD, let my life and relationship with others attract them to You.
