BE WARNED!

RBT: Lamentations 1-2

Memory Verse: “Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God- I say this to your shame.” 1 Corinthians 15:34, NIV

Bible Text: I Corinthians 15:31-34

15:31 I face death every day—yes, just as surely as I boast about you in Christ Jesus our Lord.

15:32 If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus with no more than human hopes, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”

15:33 Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

15:34 Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God—I say this to your shame.

An adage says, “to be forewarned is to be forearmed.” It means that if you know about a problem or situation in advance, you will be able to deal with it before it negatively affects you. Unfortunately, some people ignore warning to their own detriment.

Apostle Paul, on the strength of his argument about resurrection from death, said the hope of resurrection kept him ardent in his service to God's kingdom despite persecutions. He said if worldly people can risk their lives for earthly value, how much more dying for Christ which has eternal value. He warned believers not to be misled by bad company who believe and teach doctrines which contradict the Word of God. Since there is life after death, believers are warned to live righteously as people who are dead to sin.

Have you heard people saying, “Once saved forever saved,” and believe you can live your life anyhow? That is not right at all! Be warned, do not be deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, he will reap (Galatians 6:7).

Insight: The Word of God has the final say over any church or man's doctrine.

Prayer: Dear LORD, please let your discerning spirit rest upon me that I might not be led astray.
