CHRIST APOSTOLIC CHURCH THE LIVING WATER (January- December, 2023) DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE DATE: Sunday, September 17, 2023 TOPIC: GOD IS LOOKING FOR SOMEONE

MEMORISE

So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gup before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found no one (Ezekiel 22:30).

READ:

Ezekiel 22:24-31

[24]. "Son of man, say to her: ‘You are a land that is not cleansed or rained on in the day of indignation.’

[25]. The conspiracy of her prophets in her midst is like a roaring lion tearing the prey; they have devoured people; they have taken treasure and precious things; they have made many widows in her midst.

[26]. Her priests have violated My law and profaned My holy things; they have not distinguished between the holy and unholy, nor have they made known the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they have hidden their eyes from My Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.

[27]. Her princes in her midst are like wolves tearing the prey, to shed blood, to destroy people, and to get dishonest gain.

[28]. Her prophets plastered them with untempered mortar, seeing false visions, and divining lies for them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ when the Lord had not spoken.

[29]. The people of the land have used oppressions, committed robbery, and mistreated the poor and needy; and they wrongfully oppress the stranger.

[30]. So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.

[31]. Therefore I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; and I have recompensed their deeds on their own heads,” says the Lord God.

EXPOSITION

Whenever God wants to execute His plans on earth, He graciously uses man. In every generation, God looks for a man who makes himself available and responsible to represent Him in executing His plan on earth. Some biblical examples are Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Joshua, David, Elijah, Nehemiah, Isaiah, among others. God was disappointed in family of Eli, the priest (1 Sam. 3:1-7). He also expressed such disappointment when the people of Judah were about to be exiled (Jer. 5:1; Ezek. 22:30). What can we say about our own generation where manipulation, lying, bribery and corruption, atrocity, fake Christians, false prophets and teachers, and other terrible phenomena pervade even the Church?

The truth of the matter is that, no matter how things may be in a generation, God still looks for a man in each home, community, nation and the whole world, to stand for His truth and righteousness. If God finds no one to rebuild the walls of righteousness, and stand in the gap before Him for the people of his/her own generation, God permits evil things to happen to that generation (Jer. 5:1; Ezek. 22:30-31).

You can be the one God will find and use in this generation, if you reposition yourself by living a separated life (2 Cor. 6:14-17). Whatever you do, whether a teacher, lawyer, doctor, police officer, judge, trader, or businessperson, do it as a Christian, and unto the glory of God (1 Cor. 10:31). Until you are positively different, you cannot make a positive difference (Job 14:4).
