CHRIST APOSTOLIC CHURCH THE LIVING WATER (January-December, 2023) DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE DATE: Friday, September 29, 2023 TOPIC: DON'T BE A FOOL

MEMORISE

Because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their World Heart Day foolish hearts were darkened (Romans 1:21).

READ:

Psalm 14:1-7

[1]. The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.

[2]. The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.

[3]. They have all turned aside, They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one.

[4]. Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And do not call on the Lord?

[5]. There they are in great fear, For God is with the generation of the righteous.

[6]. You shame the counsel of the poor, But the Lord is his refuge.

[7]. Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When the Lord brings back the captivity of His people, Let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.

EXPOSITION

Every action emanates from the heart (Prov 23:7; Matt. 12:34; Lk. 6:45). The fool first conceives in his heart, before voicing it that *there is no God.* Despite seeing indisputable evidences of God's existence everywhere, the ungodly reject the reality to debunk the existence. This, in turn determines how he lives his life. If there is no God, as the fool thinks, it then follows that, there is no standard to live by, everyone does what gives them pleasure. Why would the fool conclude that there is no God? He acts wickedly, expecting God to deal with him, but that didn't happen. He goes out and returns safely without praying to God. So, he concludes in his heart that there is no God anywhere. What a myopic person! He is unaware that it is just that the gracious and compassionate God has no pleasure in the sinner's death/destruction. Don't become a fool. Affliction awaits the fool (Psa. 107:17). In other words, those that are living their lives as if God does not exist. Those who do evil at will, sin at wish; thinking that nothing will happen thereafter. The evil of today is guaranteed affliction of tomorrow. You may not be saying "there is no God" in words or letter, but is your action not saying it? Every decision we take without considering the part of God is as good as saying "there is no God" If you will go out of your house to the place of work or to school without acknowledging God through prayers, you are saying "there is no God" and that makes you a fool. Let God be the first you will consider in making your decisions, let Him fill your heart on this day, which is World Heart Day, and your thought so that you don't become a fool.
