MEMORISE
For exaltation comes neither from the East nor from the West nor from the South. But God is the judge: He puts down one and exalts another (Psalm 75:6-7).

EXPOSITION
There is no controversy that exaltation (promotion) comes from God alone. Promotion and downfall of anyone is not hidden from God (cf. Amos 3:6). He alone can promote and demote. The Scripture says, *...He removes kings...* (Dan. 2:21). God never does things at random. He removes kings from the throne and raises others for His purpose. Since all power belongs to Him, He can do and undo. Only He brings low and lifts up (cf. 1 Sam. 2:6-8). One important reason why God replaces people is because of unrepentant display of disappointment on the part of man. Man can disappoint and become pompous at any time, especially when he is given opportunity to be at the helm of affairs. God knows all men and what are in them (Jn. 2:24, 25). In the real sense, nobody can disappoint Him. Why? He already has replacement for anybody, in case of falling away. His plans can never be truncated. God has persons on the bench to take over from anyone who tries to disappoint Him. Every Moses has a replacement in Joshua. Every Eli has Samuel waiting, just as every Saul has David warming up, like Elisha for Elijah. Be careful with whatever position you hold, the gifts and talent you wield, the opportunity you have, the grace you carry, etc. Don't think no one would fill the gap your absence creates. Don't think that nothing can be done, if you are not there. God has reserves everywhere that you may not know (1 Kgs. 18:4; 19:18). Be humble, so that you will not be humiliated.

2. I shall not be replaced; no one will take my place in Christ, in Jesus' name.
3. Pray for assistant/associate ministers to be more humble in their dealings with their lead ministers.
