How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him (Hebrew 2:3).

[1]. Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.

[2]. For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward,

[3]. how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him,

EXPOSITION

Once upon a time, there was a very peaceful village where the people devotedly worshipped in a common temple. The chief priest who always led the villagers in worship permanently lived in the temple. One fateful day, immediately after their worship, a torrential rainfall was suddenly let loose, and didn't seem it was stopping anytime soon. So, the villagers began to scamper for safety. One kind-hearted villager remembered that the priest was nowhere to be found as the downpour continued. He searched and later found him in their temple. He asked him to come with them to a safer place, but the priest insisted on staying back, with the faith that God would come to his rescue. After this, came a boatman rowing to the temple that was now filled with water. He also declined the boatman's rescue mission, still holding to his faith. The boatman left him, then came a helicopter around the temple to rescue anybody left behind, but the priest still stubbornly refused to leave the water-soaked temple. After a while. the water was almost submerging the entire building. Surprisingly, the priest started to accuse God of refusing to come for his rescue. God rebuked him, "I came three times for your rescue but you defiantly refused. What else would you have me do?"

In life, oftentimes, opportunity comes to us disguised, sometimes adorned in garments contrary to our expectations. Some fail to recognise it, yet keep complaining that life is unfair. How shall you escape, if you neglect the Gospel messages reaching you at various times and locations? Better to grab the opportunity when it lasts.

1. Where He lead me I will go,

For I have leaned to trust Him so,

And I remember 'twas for me,

That he was slain on Calvary.

Jesus shall lead me night and day

Jesus shall lead me all the way

He is the truest Friend to me,

 For I remember Calvary.

2. O I delight His command,

 Love to be led y His dear hand;

His divine will is sweet to me

 Hallowed by blood-stained Calvary.

3. Onward I go, nor doubt nor fear,

Happy with Christ my saviour near,

Trusting that I some day shall see

 Jesus my friend on Calvary.

Amen.
