BIBLE READING:

EXODUS 3:10, 4:10-15

EXODUS 3:10 10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt. Exodus 4:10-15 10 And Moses said unto the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. 11 And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord? 12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. 13 And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send. 14 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart. 15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.  

KEY VERSE:

“Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.” Exodus 4:12  

MEDITATION:

What is unknown to God does not exist anywhere, either in heaven or on earth! He has perfect knowledge of every soul in the world (Hebrews 4:13). He knows all things (1 John 3:20). His understanding is unlimited (Psalm 147:5). His understanding is unsearchable (Isaiah 40:28). Therefore, God knows who is suitable for His use and who is unfit.   

The Bible reading today narrates how God called Moses to go deliver the children of Israel who had been 400 years in slavery in Egypt. However, Moses told God that he was not suitable for that assignment and asked Him to send someone else. God punctured every excuse Moses raised to refuse the assignment. Moses’ lame arguments angered God, but in His benevolence, God slightly modified the instructions for the assignment. Only if Moses had known God was omniscient!   

Arguing with God when He has a clear mandate for an assignment can only be futile. God knew all that Moses was struggling to explain before He chose to call him for the assignment. All God needed from Moses was simple submission, not explanation. God does not call the suited and qualified by man’s standard for His assignments. He only, determines and chooses the suitable and qualified person. Do not use personal inadequacy to excuse yourself from doing God’s work! Man looks at the physical appearance but God looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).  

When have you missed out in God’s plan for your life by insisting on your own standards?  

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, teach me to yield my will and heart to your entreaties today and always.
