BIBLE READING:

PSALMS 122:6-9

6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. 7 Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces. 8 For my brethren and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee. 9 Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek thy good.  

KEY VERSE:

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray” 2 Chronicles 7:14  

MEDITATION:

A lot of us have different opinions about what we can do to transform and save our nations. However, we can only attain true change and transformation when we turn to God as a people.   

When Solomon had finished building the Temple as instructed by God, and after its dedication, the Lord appeared unto him and made a demand on the people of God, Israel, and said, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14). This same demand is what God makes of every faithful believer in our nations, even today.   

The church of God in each nation must go before the throne of God to seek for mercy and ask God to intervene in our country. We must stand for what is right and push for justice in every sphere of life. In every way the church has failed to represent Christ and relapsed in her duties, we must ask for forgiveness and strive to do better. The Bible says, “Many are the plans in a man’s heart but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” (Proverbs 19:21). That is why we must make it our constant priority to go before God in prayer concerning the problems facing our country and go with clean hands.  

How much time do you commit to praying for your nation daily?  

PRAYER:

Oh Lord, we repent of our wicked ways; forgive us and please heal our land.
