RBT: Ezekiel 47-48

Memory Verse: “Look, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be!” Revelations 1:7, NIV

Bible Text: Revelation 1:4-7

1:4 John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, 

1:5 and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, 

1:6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. 

1:7 “Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”

During Christ's ascension, two angels appeared to the disciples and promised them that He would return the same way He had ascended. That gave them hope that the separation was going to be temporal and there would be reunion again. John was the last of the disciples of Jesus to see death. He received messages for the seven churches in Asia minor in the present-day Turkey before his death. He affirmed that Jesus is alive, having obtained salvation through His blood for the sinful world. He also revealed that believers are saved to serve God as priests in His kingdom. This same Jesus will one day return to earth to govern it in righteousness and all eyes, including His killers, will see Him.

 Jesus paid the price for the sins of the whole world once and for all in His first coming. When He comes again, He is coming to take His saints with Him and subsequently reign in righteousness on earth. When He comes, will you be found commendable or condemnable? Will you be judged to eternal damnation or justified to eternal rest? The choice is yours to make now.

Insight: Be prepared always to see and meet Jesus unashamed.

Prayer: LORD, help me to keep my heart pure and life acceptable in readiness for Your second coming.
