SINCERE MILK THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 21, 2023 "KEEP YOURSELVES FROM IDOLS"

KEY VERSE: "Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen." 1 John 5:21

TEXT: 1 JOHN 5:16-21

An idol is a graven image or a representation of an image made for the purpose of worship. An idol is also an image worshipped in the place of God. Therefore, anything that takes the place of God in your life is an idol. The Lord is specifically speaking to children to keep themselves from idols. Anything that you value or place far above God is an idol and should not be found in you. 

There are some children that love football more than going to church, love sleep more than prayer, love food more than the Bible, love money and material things more than worship or service to God, those children are referred to as idolaters.

Are you like that? Do you love the things of this world more than God? If you have an idol in your heart, you need to quickly run to Jesus today to ask for forgiveness and forsake all idols in your life so that you can enjoy sweet fellowship with Him.

PRAYER: Lord, I forsake all my idols and surrender my life to You today.
