CHRIST APOSTOLIC CHURCH THE LIVING WATER (January-December, 2023) DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE DATE: Thursday, October 12, 2023 (World Sight Day) TOPIC: RESTORATION

MEMORISE

   Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2).

READ:
Galations 6:1-3

[1]. Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.

[2]. Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

[3]. For if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

EXPOSITION

     To restore means to reinstate, put back into previous state or use. You restore that which is out of place. Nebuchadnezzar was driven from among men and made to eat grass like oxen. He grew hair like eagle's feathers and his nails were like birds. All these continued until he lifted his eyes to heaven and his understanding was divinely restored (Dan. 4:28-37). Jesus did a lot of restorations during His earthly ministry: restoring sights, as today is World Sight Day (Matt. 9:27-30; Mk. 8:22-25), withered hand (Matt 12:13), and the dead back to life (Jn. 11:43-44). He crowned it on the cross by restoring us to God, once and for all, with His atoning blood (Rom. 3:23-24).

     No matter your denomination, race, colour, tribe, country, etc., we are one body under the lordship of Christ Jesus. Nevertheless, when a believer falls, it is common in our generation to go on social media to bash him/her. The most disheartening is that majority of the bashes come from fellow Christians, making the work of restoring such fellow more difficult, and by extension, the work of evangelism. Let the Church do her work by disciplining the erring fellow and restoring him/her to the fold, to save him/her from Satan's claws. If you can't help the situation, don't compound it. Go on your knees and pray for the one who fell that the Lord will restore him. Follow Paul's charge to the Galatian brethren in Galatians 6:1.

SUGGESTED HYMN FOR TODAY:
CAC GHB 398

1. Sinners Jesus will receive;
 Sound this word of grace to all
 Who the heavenly pathway leave,
 All who linger, all who fall!

Chorus:
 Sing it o'er and o'er again;
 Christ receiveth sinful men;
 Make the message clear and plain;
 Christ receiveth sinful men.

2. Come and He will give you rest;
 Trust him for His word is plain;
 He will take the sinfulest:
 Christ receiveth sinful men.

3. Now my heart condemns me not,
 Pure before the law I stand;
 He who cleansed me from all spot,
 Satisfied its last demand.

4. Christ receiveth sinful men,
 Even me with all my sin;
 Purged from every spot and stain,
 Heaven with Him I enter in.

Amen.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Father, forgive me for trampling on my fellow brethren who fell, and playing god to them.

2. Lord Jesus, reach out to the backsliding brethren and restore them to Your fold.

3. Holy Spirit, uphold Christian gospel ministers with Your power, lest they bring worldliness into the Church.
