Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria Grace for Living Devotional Wednesday October 4, 2023 TOPIC: FREELY YOU HAVE RECEIVED, FREELY GIVE

BIBLE READING:

MATTHEW 10:1-18

KEY VERSE:

For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it? 1 Corinthians 4:7

MEDITATION:

Right from the beginning, God has always been giving. When Adam and Eve sinned, they couldn't cover their nakedness (Genesis 3:7); God did for them by providing an animal skin (Genesis 3:21). That was when God first shed blood for the sin of humanity.

The greatest and biggest gift God has given to humankind is His only Son, Jesus. Jesus is the last and final plan of redemption. When Jesus went back to heaven, He sent the Holy Spirit as our guide and comforter so we don’t become food for Satan and his wicked hosts.

Oh, you may say these are Spiritual gifts! Yes, you are right, but consider these also: The clothes you wear, God made provision for them by giving you a job that pays you enough to be able to afford them; or he probably put it in the mind of someone to provide your daily needs which includes the gift of parents; or he sends someone from an unexpected source to meet an urgent need!

It will only be an act of selfishness not to give, because scripture says, give and it shall be given unto you. Be open-minded, as the whole of your life is a gift. So, don't hesitate to give whenever you are in a position to do so.

Have you ever missed an opportunity to give to someone at their most critical moment of need?

PRAYER:

Oh Lord, teach me genuine sacrifice so I can give as you have freely given me.
