HIGHER EVERYDAY WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 04, 2023 TELL JESUS WHAT YOU WANT

 

MEMORY VERSE: "And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me" (Luke 18: 38).

TEXT: LUKE 18:35-43

“Oh Lord, give me Scotland, or I die.” That was what John Knox, the Scottish reformer and mighty man of prayer told God, and God answered his prayer by giving him souls. Christian youths often search for solution to their problems everywhere except from where it matters most - from God. Problems blind young people to their best interests, and they make Jesus appear distant or unconcerned about their needs. Yet, genuine succour can only come when we tell Jesus what we want in prayer. The blind man in our text knew this, when he heard that Jesus was passing by; he did not hesitate to cry out for mercy, even though the people around discouraged him. He cried until he got the attention of Jesus who instantly gave him his sight.

If Christian youths spend as much time praying as they spend grumbling, they would soon have nothing to grumble about. Mathew 7: 7 says: "Ask and it shall be given you ..." Never forget that Christ is faithful to His promises; He loves and cares for us. So, tell Him what you want and your desires will be granted.

PRAYER: Oh Lord, help me not to forget to pray.
