Memory Verse: In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God. Romans 8:26, NIV

Bible Text: Romans 8:25-27

8:25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. 

8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 

8:27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God

The Holy Spirit is the believer's Senior Partner who turns our prayers into acceptable, powerful expressions before God and releases God's power to act in our favour. In the place of prayer, patience, hope and waiting are essential virtues. However, above these virtues, the Holy Spirit is our most important Helper in prayer. 

As humans, we are limited, weak in perspective and strength and mentally ignorant of many things, yet we have an obligation to pray. Therefore, the Holy Spirit supplies us with strength to pray effectually. He inspires us with His thoughts, desires and purposes to pray aright. He makes intercession on our behalf before God's throne with wordless inner groaning that attracts divine answer. 

When last were you prompted spontaneously by the Holy Spirit to pray? He expresses for you what you lack words to fully express for yourself when you depend on Him to pray according to God's will. 

To pray effectively according to God's will with Christ-exalting desires, learn to trust in the Holy Spirit, rely on Him for strength and pay attention to the inner promptings and burdens He brings to you.

Insight: To pray with Christ-exalting desires, long for the Spirit's guidance and unfolding of God's Word.

Prayer: Fill my heart with Your burdens and purposes so I can pray with Christ-exalting desires.
