NIGERIAN BAPTIST CONVENTION SEEK DAILY (NBC) Saturday, October 21 SING TO THE LORD

RBT: Luke 1-2

Memory Verse: Sing to the LORD with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp. Psalm 147:7, NIV

Bible Text: Psalm 147:7-11

147:7 Sing to the LORD with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp.

147:8 He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills.

147:9 He provides food for the cattle

and for the young ravens when they call.

147:10 His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;

147:11 the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.

Every morning, an old lady stood at her front door and shouted: “Praise the LORD!” An atheist living next door became irritated at the old lady and screamed after her, “There is no LORD!” One morning, she stepped out and shouted, “Praise the LORD! LORD, I have no food …Oh LORD, please provide for me!” The following day, she met two huge bags of foodstuffs at her front door. “Praise the LORD!” she shouted. “He has provided foodstuffs for me!” The atheist came out and yelled, “There is no LORD. I bought those foodstuffs!” The old lady raised her hands into the air and shouted, “Praise the LORD! He provided me with foodstuffs and made the devil pay for them!”

*Today's passage is a call to praise God with gratitude for His universal providence to all creation and for providing for those who fear Him. We are also to appreciate God for His continuing mercy to all and His unfailing covenantal mercy to those who fear Him.*

In what way have you been responding to God's care and providence? The right response to God is to sing songs of gratitude to Him always.

Insight: Our security, as godly people lies not in our strength, but God's unfailing mercies.

Prayer: Thank You, LORD, for Your unfailing love and care towards me.
