NIGERIAN BAPTIST CONVENTION SEEK DAILY (NBC) Sunday, October 29 MAXIMISING YOUR GIFT

RBT: Luke 19-20

Memory Verse: Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10, NIV

Bible Text: 1 Peter 4:9-11

4:9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling.

4:10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

4:11 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

One of the parables of Jesus was about a man who was going on a journey and entrusted his wealth to his servants. He gave everyone according to their abilities. Only two of the servants made proper use of theirs while the last person hid his own. When the master arrived, he called them to give account. The first two were rewarded for their faithfulness while the unfaithful servant was thrown into outer darkness.

Today's text admonishes us to make proper use of our God given potentials. We must be hospitable without grumbling. The one who speaks must do so as one who speaks the very words of God and anyone who serves should do so with the strength God provides. God has endowed all His children with diverse gifts for the benefit of the church and for the propagation of His kingdom.

Never hide your gift, use it as the LORD enables you to. A hidden gift will not be profitable, only the used one will produce fruits that will benefit God's kingdom.

Determine to maximise your potentials and let it bring praises to God through Christ.

Insight: You have been given a gift according to your ability. Use it well.

Prayer: LORD, help me to use my gift to the maximum to benefit Your kingdom.
