NIGERIAN BAPTIST CONVENTION SEEK DAILY (NBC) Tuesday, December 12 GOD'S AMBASSADOR

 

RBT: 1 Thessalonians 1-5

Memory Verse: “She said to her mistress, if only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of leprosy”. 2 Kings 5:3, NIV

Bible Text: 2 Kings 5:1-6

5:1 Now Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded, because through him the LORD had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy. 

5:2 Now bands of raiders from Aram had gone out and had taken captive a young girl from Israel, and she served Naaman’s wife. 

5:3 She said to her mistress, “If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.” 

5:4 Naaman went to his master and told him what the girl from Israel had said. 

5:5 “By all means, go,” the king of Aram replied. “I will send a letter to the king of Israel.” So Naaman left, taking with him ten talents of silver, six thousand shekels of gold and ten sets of clothing. 

5:6 The letter that he took to the king of Israel read: “With this letter I am sending my servant Naaman to you so that you may cure him of his leprosy.”

An ambassador as a representative of a country is always conscious of the fact that he has a tremendous responsibility because he is the representative by whom his country is going to be judged. And to us is given the privilege and responsibility of being the representatives of Jesus in this world. 

Naaman, the military commander of Aram whom the king esteemed highly, had everything going on fine with him till he started noticing rashes on his skin- it was leprosy. There was no cure for leprosy and it was a humiliating, painful, and isolating disease. His wealth and highly esteemed name couldn't help him out.

Naaman must have been so desperate, that he was willing to take the advice of his wife's servant. The little girl was a foreigner, but she saw what her master's husband was going through and she remembered the prophet in Samaria. It was because this little maidservant talked about the prophet to her boss that Naaman got his deliverance.

As Christians, we must seize every opportunity to talk about Christ. No matter what, we should be God's own ambassadors. If the maid had kept quiet, Naaman would have died a leper. Let's imbibe the habit of proclaiming Christ in whatever situation we find ourselves or wherever we are. May God help us.

Insight: Let's be ambassadors of Christ wherever we find ourselves.

Prayer: Father, please help me proclaim the gospel of Christ wherever I go, Amen.
