LESSON 14

TOPIC: THE HERITAGE OF BELIEVERS 

Text: Esther 6:1-13

Memory Verse:

No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, says the Lord (Isaiah 54:17).

Introduction

Adequate protection is one of the always has a way of shielding His children from being hurt by the enemy. He delivers His own from the hands of the wicked ones, and keeps them safe in the hollow of His hand (Is.49:2), right under His shadow (Ps. 91:1). It is for the enemy to plot and gather for evil, it is of the Lord to scatter and destroy them with their plans.

July 30: WEEK ONE: GOD TURNS THE TABLE

Haman was a wicked man who planned to destroy all Hebrew inhabitants of the land. And he planned to start with Mordecai, who already set up gallows to hang him (Mordecai) on. God however decided to honour Mordecai in an unbelievable way; He caused the king to lose sleep, so he could remember Mordecai to favour and honour him.

As God would have it, He orchestrated Mordecai's honour through the same wicked Haman, and also executed it through him. The one, who was to be killed, was now honoured by his intending killer through the king's soldier. When God decides to put a man's enemy to shame, He blesses the man beyond his enemy's curses. May God turn things around for your good, every evil plot of your enemies against you in Jesus' name. One of our heritages in Christ is that, He fights our battles. Shalom!

QUESTIONS

1. Explain briefly how God turned the table for Mordecai's favour.

2. What do you understand by the word "heritage," and what is our heritage in Christ?

PRAYER POINT Lord, I claim my heritage in You; because You won the war on Calvary, I win all my battles in Jesus' name.

Aug. 6: WEEK TWO: OUR ETERNAL HERITAGE

Among the numerous factors that form our heritage in Christ, eternal life is the most essential and needful. God does not want His children to only enjoy the earthly benefits of this heritage, but also the heavenly heritage -eternal life.

For as many who believe in Jesus Christ and are genuinely regenerated, God's ultimate plan is to have us with Him in His kingdom forever (Jn. 14:1-3). It is not enough to enjoy only the earthly benefits, the peak of it all is to reign with Christ eternally, after our sojourn on earth. For what shall it profit us (God's children) to only enjoy our earthly heritage, and lose the most important ultimate heavenly heritage (Mark 8:36). Dearly beloved, what are those things in your life that are capable of making you lose out on your heavenly heritage? It is better to confess and forsake them now before it is too late. Jesus is coming soon! Receive the grace and courage to make the necessary amendments in your life today, in Jesus' name. Amen! Remain blessed and rapturable!

Lord, take away from me every character/ attitude that may stand to disqualify me from being a partaker of the heavenly heritage (i.e eternal life) in Jesus' name.
