TOPIC: DEMONSTRATION OF WISDOM

BIBLE READING:

1 KINGS 3:16-28

KEY VERSE:

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5   

MEDITATION:

In today’s Bible reading is the popular age-long wisdom demonstration by King Solomon. The immediate maternal factor responsible for this incident was not known, but one of the babies in the same room died. Who will claim a dead baby when there is a choice of another living child?  

At some points in our Christian journey, passing the right judgement as a leader – at whatever level, including in our homes – may appear difficult. Giving rational verdicts in matters involving brethren, siblings and friends can be an uphill task also, moreso, when the evidences are infrequent. In the demonstration of wisdom by King Solomon, we see the reality of the Bible’s admonition in James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him”   

The demonstration of uncommon wisdom in the judgement of the King in today’s story confirms the truism of James 3:17 “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”  

Are you confronted with the difficult state of administering justice and equity in a matter involving people or you’re stuck in-between decisions, then ask for wisdom. God is ever willing to give to His children who ask.  

When last did you deliberately seek for God’s wisdom when you were at a crossroad?  

PRAYER: Oh Lord, I seek for your wisdom in all my actions, choices and decisions today and always.
