ARE YOU THE ONE?

RBT: Jeremiah 33-36

Bible Text: Matthew 11:1-6

11:1 After Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in the towns of Galilee. 

11:2 When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples 

11:3 to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” 

11:4 Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: 

11:5 The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. 

11:6 Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.” 

After the famous preacher Mr John Wesley had been preaching for some time, someone said to him, “Are you sure, Mr Wesley, of your salvation?” “Well,” he answered, “Jesus Christ died for the whole world.” “Yes, we all believe that; but are you sure that you are saved?” Wesley replied that he was sure that provision had been made for his salvation. “But are you sure, Wesley, that you are saved?” It went like an arrow to his heart, and he had no rest until that question was settled. 

Likewise, John the Baptist sent his followers to the LORD to confirm his person and work, and what is expected of the Messiah. John the Baptist was in prison because he had courageously denounced the adulterous marriage of Herod Antipas and Herodias. He reminded John of the Old Testament prophecies about the works of the Messiah. Jesus assured John that He was fulfilling the Father's will. After answering John, Jesus praised him. 

Are you, too, doubting Jesus or your salvation? The work that Jesus accomplished clearly shows that He is the Messiah. Your salvation is kept in heaven not here on earth.

Insight: Jesus Christ brought salvation to the world. He is the One.

Prayer: LORD Jesus, thank You for saving my life and giving me eternal life.
