OUR HOPE IS IN THE LORD

RBT: Jeremiah 12-14

Memory Verse: “Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD his God.” Psalm 146:5, NIV

Bible Text: Psalm 146

146:1 Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD, my soul.

146:2 I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

146:3 Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save.

146:4 When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.

146:5 Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD their God.

146:6 He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—

he remains faithful forever.

146:7 He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The L isORD sets prisoners free,

146:8 the LORD gives sight to the blind,

the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down, the LORD loves the righteous.

146:9 The LORD watches over the foreigner and sustains the fatherless and the widow, but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

146:10 The LORD reigns forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations. Praise the LORD.

A thief broke into a widow's apartment and stole the only sewing machine she was using to make ends meet. Her neighbours encouraged her to enlist powerful herbalists to deal with the thief. However, she told them she was confident that the LORD she was serving would never put her to shame. She fasted and prayed for weeks that the sewing machine would come back. After a few weeks, an unknown car pulled up to the front of the widow's apartment and left off a bag and said to the widow, “Take this. I am tired of keeping it.” God had answered her prayers.

The enthusiasm in worship is what strikes us first in Psalm146. It is obvious that the psalmist is totally excited about worshipping the LORD for the psalm was written when the task of rebuilding the temple was finished. It is evident that the Israelites had their hope in the LORD, and the task was successful (Ezra 6:14-18).

_Many put their hope in powerful people, forgetting that these people can be eliminated in a millisecond, and all the hopes will be gone. Put your hope in the LORD to avoid failure and frustrations in life._

Insight: Those who hope in God will never regret.

Prayer: LORD Jesus, help me to continually trust in You.
