THE STEERING

KEY VERSE: "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." Proverbs 4:23

TEXT: PROVERBS 4:20-23

Tom watched with surprise and wondered why the car went towards the direction at which his dad turned the car's steering. When his dad turned the steering to the left, the car and everyone in the car moved to the left. The car also moved to the right when the steering was turned to the right.

A steering is a mechanical part of a vehicle that is used to control or change its direction. Your heart is like a car's steering wheel. It determines the direction your life goes. Children must be careful of the things they allow to come into their hearts. Choose to feed your heart with good things like reading and meditating on God's word, listening to and watching only godly songs and movies. You must stay away from things that corrupt like bad movies, bad friends and thoughts. God encourages us to keep our heart with all diligence because it determines the direction our life would go.

Out of a dirty heart comes dirty word, cursing, lying, stealing and bad behaviours. The child that allows dirty thoughts in his/her heart would end badly like Cain and Judas Iscariot unless the child repents. Remember to ask God to help you every day to reject bad thoughts and temptations when they come.

PRAYER: Dear God, please help me reject bad thoughts and also keep my heart from sin.
