BIBLE READING:

HEBREWS 6:9-12

9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. 10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister. 11 And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: 12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.  

KEY VERSE:

“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”  1 Corinthians 15:58  

MEDITATION:

My childhood friend and classmate in secondary got married. Ten months after marriage, they had a bouncing baby girl. The joy of the coming of a new baby was short-lived as the baby died under mysterious circumstances. Though a very painful experience for a very young couple, they kept the faith and were unusually not down cast, but served God more fervently. Nineteen years down the line, they had a set of twins. Exactly after two years, they had another set of twins. Their nineteen years of waiting while serving God fervently despite being childless was not forgotten by God. They were rewarded.    

Today’s bible reading encourages believers not to become slothful but imitate those who through faith and patience inherited the promises made by God onto them. Faith and patience are inseparable in the journey of life. These two virtues saw Joseph manifest the glory of God in his life even when he was sold out as slave by his brothers, and falsely accused by his Master’s wife, and sent to jail. God never forgot him even in jail. Through Joseph, God delivered a whole generation that gave birth to the nation of Israel. God is not a man to forget. He remembers us as long as we can wait on Him.  

What is that thing you are trusting God for that you are yet to achieve?   

PRAYER:

Father Lord, grant me the grace to wait patiently for you to glorify yourself in my life.
