RBT: Daniel 9-12

Memory Verse: You are the light of the earth… In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven, Matthew 5: 13a, 16, NIV

Bible Text: Matthew 5:13-16

5:13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. 

5:14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 

5:15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 

5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. 

Alex was employed as a manager in a production company which was in a mess when he assumed duty. As a child of God, he was dutiful and had zero tolerance for corruption. He refused to connive with some members of the board who took contracts without executing them. He was threatened on many occasions but he maintained his stand. Though sacked in the process, he was restored with all entitlements and promotion after proper investigation. 

Jesus described children of God as salt and light. The attributes of these two items include preservation, sweetness, and direction. But if salt loses its saltiness, it is no more useful. Christians are also expected to be a light. Like a town built on a hill that cannot be hidden, our light must shine before others so that God can be glorified when they see our good deeds. 

As a Christian, are you salt, preserving your community or otherwise? Are you a light that shines among the people to the extent that God is being glorified? 

Be a good representation of the glory of God.
