Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt (Exodus 3:10).

Jonah 3:5-9
[5]. So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them.
[6]. Then word came to the king of Nineveh; and he arose from his throne and laid aside his robe, covered himself with sackcloth and sat in ashes.
[7]. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published throughout Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; do not let them eat, or drink water.
[8]. But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands.
[9]. Who can tell if God will turn and relent, and turn away from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish?
EXPOSITION
God showed a great concern for Nineveh, a city bound to be destroyed for their wickedness. Surprisingly, God sent Jonah to call them to repentance, the city that devastated His people. Why did God send Jonah? He wanted genuine repentance from the people, and he picked the man suitable for the job. Imagine how the Ninevites felt, hearing the prophecy from a man whose people they had killed and destroyed. God recruited a man, who involuntarily preached to save a whole city. The people of Nineveh took these divine words with all seriousness: *They believed in God* (Jon. 3:5), which focuses on the faith of these Gentiles in the God of Israel, and not just their fear of the impending judgement. In the same vein, Moses, when recruited, was deemed suitable by God to deliver the Israelites from the Egyptian's captivity (Exod. 3:7).
Has God been speaking to you? How far can you run away from him (cf. Psa. 139:7ff)? God is still in the business of recruiting people to facilitate the salvation of souls from eternal condemnation and captivity of the devil. If those two prophets, Jonah and Moses, cooperated with YAHWEH to save multitudes in their days, it is our turn, now, to do likewise. Look at how our streets, communities, schools, marketplaces, and neighbourhood are in droves of perishing souls. Join the soul-winners to witness to these souls on the verge of destruction. God is sending you on a soul-saving mission today that you might bring more people to His kingdom. The Scripture says, *I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance* (Lk. 15:7). God is recruiting you today!
