The disciples had just returned from the work of evangelism and should have some rest. So, Jesus took them to the wilderness, for rest and refreshing. But no! The multitude got to know. They followed Him to the wilderness and He was left with no option than to receive speak to, and heal them. He ministered to them till sundown, then the disciples asked Him to send them away to the surrounding towns. A miracle was about to happen; Jesus told them what they least expected: *You give them something to eat* (Lk 9:15), as today marks World Food Day. Jesus Christ could have caused bread and fish to rain down on the crowd like the manna in the wilderness. Instead, He decided to involve the peopl

John's version of this story includes that the loaves of bread and fishes for the miracle came from the lunch box of an unnamed boy. The miraculous started by the involvement of the disciple who found those items. The little boy had option to hold it back, but played his part in releasing the food. Probably, some women who came along with their baskets surrendered them to be used in serving the items. Again, the disciples played another part by following the instruction of Jesus: collecting the blessed bread and the fishes to be distributed. They could have thought otherwise and questioned the Master's order to share the meagre loaves and fishes among 5,000 men. But they obeyed. Many a time, we expect the miraculous but are often passive in how it happens

At Lazarus tomb, Jesus would call him out of the dead, but people around must roll away the stone. He would give eyes to a man that was born blind by making and putting mud on his face, but he would have to go and wash in the pool
