RBT: Mark 8-9

Memory Verse: Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Psalm 105:1, NIV

Bible Text: Psalm 105:1-7

105:1 Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.

105:2 Sing to him, sing praise to him;

tell of all his wonderful acts.

105:3 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.

105:4 Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.

105:5 Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,

105:6 you his servants, the descendants of Abraham, his chosen ones, the children of Jacob.

105:7 He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.

A local church had a vibrant worship team led by a young man. But slowly, the focus of the congregants turned from exalting Christ to celebrating the expertise of the musicians. Instead of the people becoming participants in worship, their attention was on the choir.

Today's text is a psalm of praise that clarifies the proper focus in worship and the right way to worship. In worship, we proclaim and celebrate God's wonderful acts in our lives and human history because He is worthy of praise (vv. 1b-2, 5).

Remembering God's faithfulness compels us to praise Him wholeheartedly. Our worship should be with rejoicing even as we focus on God's strength and enjoy the sweet fragrance of His grace and presence (vv. 3-4). Lastly, worship is only meaningful when we enter into a personal relationship with God (v7).

Friend, do you have a wrong focus in worship? Without a personal relationship with God, your worship is meaningless. Can you surrender your life to Jesus if you are yet to do so wholly? Make the decision and ask the LORD Jesus to come into your heart and be the LORD of your life.

Insight: Nothing else but God should be the focus and audience of our worship.

Prayer: LORD, accept my heart of worship. My worship is all about You.
