[1] Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
EXPOSITION
Psalm 1:1 shows that if you really want to be blessed, you have to follow the Word of God. First, do not walk in the counsel of the wicked/ungodly. That means, don't let wicked or ungodly people lead/guide the way you live. Don't listen to their advice, no matter how good, pleasing or appealing it may sound. A bad tree produces bad fruit. So, the ungodly produce ungodly advice. Choose who you hang around with, but make sure it is not with ungodly people, to be influenced by them. However, as a child of God, you can rely on His Spirit, grace and wisdom to influence them, though you should be careful, lest you entrapped (cf. Gal 6:1). You can help them to walk in the counsel of the righteous, by God's grace
Secondly, if you want God's blessing, don't stand in the way of sinners. Once a person starts listening to the counsel of sinners, slowly he/she begins to stand and commune with them, sharing their ungodly convictions and philosophies, thus significantly becoming like them. God doesn't bless those who do that. Thirdly, do not sit in the seat of mockers, lest you become everything that they are, and your heart is turned away from God, having become a mocker-disaster! There is zero blessing in that! As you walk with the Lord, know that God is delighted when we choose to be like Him-holy and godly. So, choose godliness, reject every hint of ungodliness.
